POSITRON XR CINEMA
Aroma Shooter 2 rides on Positron's Voyager, the VR cinema motion chair. More than 95 units shipped since 2020, running in four venues.
Overview
Positron’s Voyager is a motion chair that moves with the VR film. It has been going into cinemas, museums and tourist attractions since 2015; the company’s own venue list runs from Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Boston, Miami, Nashville, Portland and Toronto to Melbourne (Eureka Skydeck, 27 chairs) and Milan — twenty venues in all.
We have been supplying Aroma Shooter 2 for that chair since 2020.
A seat is the hardest distance for scent
Building scent into a seat means releasing it a few dozen centimetres from someone’s nose. Two things have to hold at once.
It must reach that person only. If the guest in the next chair is watching a different film, the scent cannot drift across and mix. Aroma Shooter carries its scent forward on an air stream — directional, so it arrives where it is aimed and not next door.
It must not stay. Scenes turn over every few minutes, and shows run all day. Spray a liquid and the last scene’s fragrance stays in the seat, waiting for whoever sits down next. Aroma Shooter works from solid material, so the scent clears at once.
Past 95 units, and still going in
More than 95 units have shipped for Voyager chairs since 2020, and the scent-equipped seats run in four venues today. Each time the film changes, the scent changes for that one viewer — and then it is gone.
