Dream Vortex

From 13 May to the end of August 2025, Petra: The Glory of the Nabataeans ran at the Reial Cercle Artístic in Barcelona — a fifteen-minute VR journey through the ancient city. Picture, motion chair, and scent: the desert city only stands up when all three arrive together.

Built into the chair

The Dream Vortex chair wraps around the viewer. Aroma Shooter 2 is mounted inside it, on the left.

Releasing scent at that distance takes two things.

It must reach that person only. The next chair holds another guest, living a different moment in the same room. If the scent drifts and mixes, the staging falls apart. Aroma Shooter carries its scent forward on an air stream, so it lands on the one person in front of it, not the one beside.

It must not stay. A show runs fifteen minutes and the next one starts soon after. Spray a liquid and the last show’s fragrance sits in the chair, waiting for whoever climbs in next. Working from solid material, Aroma Shooter lets the scent exist for the scene and then clears it.

Only while the desert is there

The official description puts it this way: “from the subtle scent of desert spices to the gentle motion of your journey.” The scent appears when the scene asks for it, and then it is gone.
